教宗良十四世宣佈將在羅馬接受手術移除肺部結節

71 歲的教宗良十四世 10 月 11 日在梵蒂岡聖伯多祿廣場主持週日天主經祈禱時，向在場朝聖者透露，醫生在例行檢查中發現他肺部有一處區域性性結節。他強調，這處焦點「控制良好」，且在非常早期的階段就被偵測出來，因此決定在未來幾天內接受手術將其移除。教宗同時感謝各界對他健康的關心與祝福。

梵蒂岡訊息人士向義大利廣播公司 RAI News 透露，教宗預計下週初、很可能是週二入住羅馬傑梅利綜合醫院（Policlinico Gemelli），術後住院時間約為一週。秘魯商報（La República）也報導，教宗手術後將住院一週。這項手術安排在教宗原訂出訪烏拉圭、阿根廷與秘魯的行程之前。
