加州最高法院裁定，裡弗塞德縣警長查德·比安科今年稍早查扣約 65 萬張選票的行為違反選舉法，必須將選票歸還。
法院指出，加州法律明文規定「在任何情況下」已投出的選票都不得「脫離選務官員的保管」，因此比安科的查扣行為屬「違法」。法院並警告，允許執法人員不受限制地接觸選票，或依未受規範的程序私下處理與計票，將「對選舉完整性構成重大風險」。比安科是共和黨籍，曾角逐加州州長。
