美國總統川普10月16日在喬治亞州多爾頓的競選造勢活動上，拿穆斯林常見的男性名字「穆罕默德」開玩笑，藉此嘲諷伊朗的總統職位。

川普對群眾說：「如果你對某個中東人的名字沒把握，直接說『穆罕默德』就好。」他聲稱這樣猜中的機率約65%，還說自己多年來都用這招，從來沒猜錯過。川普接著嘲諷伊朗，稱伊朗是全世界唯一一個「沒有人想當總統」的國家。

穆罕默德是穆斯林世界最常見的男性名字之一，許多穆斯林會以伊斯蘭教創始人先知穆罕默德之名為兒子命名。人權團體與穆斯林倡議組織曾多次批評川普的言論，指他妖魔化並嘲弄穆斯林。
