美國總統川普計畫於下週搭乘卡達贈送的波音專機前往愛爾蘭，這將是該機自安全疑慮浮上檯面後首次離開美國國土。
據華盛頓郵報（The Washington Post）報導，川普將使用這架價值 4 億美元（約新臺幣127億元）的卡達贈機作為「空軍一號」執行國際行程。然而，此決定是在美國特勤局（Secret Service）曾於 7 月建議川普勿搭乘該機從土耳其返美之後做出的。當時，官員因獲悉可能的伊朗威脅，將川普轉至另 1 架飛機，引發外界對該機防禦能力的質疑。
川普本人於 7 月表示，這架飛機將暫時停用，並進行「全面」的安全升級。他於稍晚指出，升級作業預計耗時約 1 個月。《獨立報》（The Independent）與《衛報》（Guardian World）（The Guardian）均指出，川普計畫在完成這些升級後，重新啟用該機執行任務。
