查爾斯三世向 56 個大英國協國家的領袖表示，他對奴隸制的恐怖有了更深的理解，並指出跨大西洋奴隸貿易「仍在這些島嶼及其他成員國投下陰影」，這些成員國多為英國前殖民地。查爾斯三世的演講標誌著大英國協政府首腦會議在安地卡的正式開幕。此前一天，查爾斯三世在安地卡及巴布達的奧斯本（Osborne）與大英國協官員會面。
