美國總統川普週六上午在白宮向記者表示，伊朗的方案「不可接受」。他說：「他們想達成 1 項協定，立刻開放海峽，因為他們輸得太慘了。他們想達成協定，我認為這很好。我也喜歡達成協定。」川普的言論顯示，儘管他對談判持開放態度，但認為伊朗目前提出的條件無法接受。

伊朗外交部長阿拉格奇（Araghchi）在俄羅斯總統上發文承認川普的否決，但指責川普先前曾發表自相矛盾的言論。伊朗方面表示，將等待美國談判代表的正式回覆。伊朗的方案核心訴求包括停火、解除美國海上封鎖，以及取消油制裁。伊朗堅持認為，只有透過外交途徑才能解決這場衝突。
