1 艘載有近 270 名乘客與船員的渡輪，30 日在北塞普勒斯海域因進水而傾覆，造成至少 6 人死亡，目前已有超過 172 人獲救，搜救行動仍在進行中。
根據土耳其官方媒體 TRT 引述北塞普勒斯總理 Ünal Üstel 的說法，事故發生在北塞普勒斯吉爾內（Girne）海岸外約 4 英里處。土耳其內政部指出，這艘雙體船式渡輪載有 259 名乘客與 8 名船員，原定從凱里尼亞港駛往土耳其的塔蘇朱（Taşucu）港，但在出港後不久便開始進水。
法國 24（France 24）報導指出，當局已證實多人死亡。土耳其駐尼科西亞大使表示，船上多數乘客已獲救，部分傷者已送醫治療。
沿海城鎮凱里尼亞的市長 Murat Şenkul 接受 CNN Turk 採訪時表示，目前已聯絡上 159 名乘客，他形容「情況非常嚴峻」。
現場畫面顯示，乘客穿著救生衣在翻覆的船隻周圍水域中等待救援，搜救船隻已趕抵現場將乘客接駁上岸。
