川普在文中寫道：「法國發生的事，無非就是失控的大規模移民。這不是學校的問題，而是伊斯蘭想要奪取一個曾經偉大的國家。」他並在另一則貼文中宣稱法國的移民問題已經失控。奈及利亞《Punch》報導指出，川普此舉是在美國期中選舉前，推動其右翼敘事的一環。印度新德里電視台（NDTV）分析，川普與其政府長期以來將歐洲的社會問題歸咎於移民，呼籲歐洲關閉邊界，並與極右翼政黨的論調遙相呼應，警告所謂的文明衰退。
